The Humble Pie Masterclass 🥧 The Ultimate Comfort Food On a chilly day, there is nothing more comforting than a pie served steaming hot from the oven. Whether featuring a traditional pastry top, golden potatoes, crisp crumbs, or sweet streusel—the sky is the limit! In this hands-on masterclass, our expert chef breaks down the techniques behind making perfect shortcrust and suet pastry from scratch. Learn essential assembly tricks, smart baking shortcuts, and plenty of chef tips to ensure your pies turn out crisp, golden, and utterly flawless every single time. What you will bake and learn: • Devilled Beef & Ale Pie: Master a rich classic with tender beef in a deep ale gravy under a suet pastry crust. • Double-Crusted Vegetable Pie: Build a golden shortcrust pie packed with root vegetables, cheddar, and sherry. • Roasted Cauliflower Cheese Filo Pie: Work with delicate filo layers to wrap a bubbling, cheesy core. • Mini Apple Crumble Pies: Perfect your sweet pastry skills with individual spiced apple crumble pies. FAQs Is this class hands-on? It is a fully hands-on experience. You mix, roll, and assemble the pies yourself, alongside expert live demonstrations. What is included? Everything is provided. We supply all ingredients, professional equipment, and aprons. We even handle all the cleaning up! What should I bring? Just your passion! Please bring plastic containers to safely transport your fresh, warm pies home. Can I recreate dishes at home? Yes. You will receive a bespoke recipe pack with clear steps to easily replicate these pastries in your oven. How big are class sizes? We strictly limit sessions to small groups of 8 guests for plenty of personal, one-on-one time with our chef. Where are you located? Our climate-controlled studio is in a converted historic farm with ample free on-site parking. Are children allowed? Yes. Under 16s are welcome but must be booked alongside an adult. About our Classes & Setting Escape the ordinary at our rural cookery school. Limited to 8 guests, our sessions offer a premium, personalised experience. Enjoy refreshments upon arrival, then step into our purpose-built, light-filled kitchen to master new techniques and create dishes from scratch. Terms & Conditions (Ts&Cs) for Bookings
A)Classes use induction hobs which may affect pacemakers. If you have a pacemaker check with a professional before booking. B)Persons booked onto this class are 16 years old or over (do not need to be accompanied), or for any persons aged under 16 years old they have been booked in alongside a responsible adult. C)Do not attend classes at Luke’s Patisserie (LPs) if you are unwell (suffer sickness (vomiting/diarrhoea, skin rash, sore throat, viral infection, COVID-19 symptoms or fever) within 48 hours of the class. See cancellation terms (O,P,Q). D)Any person can take the place of a booked person (without charge). Any person’s attending classes at LPs agree to these Ts&Cs. E)Classes are subject to change, should changes occur from LPs you will be entitled to transfer your class without charge (to the value of your class), or cancel (with full refund). F)In the event of a power failure, frozen water pipes, flooding or other circumstance outside our control, we reserve the right to reschedule the class. We will transfer your class without charge to a class of your choice (to the value of your class), or cancel (with a full refund). G)We require to hold your personal information for this booking. We will not sell/give your information to third parties. H)You will adhere to health and safety protocols given in the class. I)Whilst we give health and safety information for classes and put safeguards in place, you are accountable for your own health and safety. We cannot control your actions. Therefore, tutors and LPs cannot be held liable for injuries or health and safety problems you encounter/obtain. You acknowledge and agree to the health and safety risks that are integrally present by attending a cookery class. J)You will be asked to leave if you demonstrate inappropriate/dangerous behaviour and will not be offered a refund. K)You will not hold tutors or LPs accountable for any damage or loss of property whilst at LPs. L)Tutors and LPs cannot be held accountable for the safety of food for consumption once it leaves LPs. M)Our liability to you under all circumstances does not exceed the total cost of the class value booked. N)We cannot guarantee ingredients in classes are allergen free. O)Class cancellations or changes 1)BEFORE 21 days of a class can be done minus 10% 2)WITHIN 21 days of a class can only be done if we can refill the space minus 10%.
